Conquering Animal Sound
Limbo presents a special, one-off event at The Pleasance Theatre, in association with EUSA. It’s an all-seater venue with a slightly larger capacity than we’re used to at The Voodoo Rooms, so we’ve put together a very special double-headline bill with two excellent supporting acts, all of whom are working in left-field, electronic pop music. We’ll be making the most of the larger stage and high grade technical specifications of the Pleasance to make this event as sumptuously visual a feast for your eyes as possible. So, you can just sit back, relax and take in the whole production, visually as well as sonically – a bit like going to the pictures, with a more-or-less constant soundtrack…
Following the release of their excellent second album On Floating Bodies (Chemikal Underground) in Spring, club favourites Conquering Animal Sound return to wow us once again. Their extraordinary sound that sits somewhere between Bjork, Matthew Herbert and Pantha Du Prince. If you’ve not seen this duo yet, this will be the perfect opportunity for you to do so.

Little Buddha
Co-headliners Little Buddha are new to Limbo but feting the release of their own second album, The Baader-Meinhof Phenomeonon. It sees them mine a rich seam of influences from Bristol trip hop such as Portishead, US fusion legend Jaco Pastorius (Weather Report) and soundtrack supremos John Barry and Ennio Morricone, lacing these with some very twenty-first century concerns in their striking lyrics.

First support comes from Plum, who has been compared to The Knife and Niki & The Dove and won the Best Electronic category at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards earlier this year, before knocking Limbo out with an incredible live performance the following night. Plum’s moved to Brighton since then but is making the trip north specially for Limbo.

First act on stage on the night will be Engine7, a new electronic project for Glaswegian talent Marie-Claire Lee (seen twice previously at Limbo with her other band, The Lotus Project). We’ve heard a clutch of the demos and are very much looking forward to witnessing Marie-Claire’s new project first-hand.
After the show, the Black Spring DJs will keep the party going in the bar downstairs, with a PA set up in the space exclusively for this purpose.
This event really will be like nothing Limbo’s ever staged before and a rarity in the Edinburgh live music calendar to boot. As always, there are a limited number of early bird tickets available at a heavily discounted price, so grab one while you can. You won’t regret it.
