Tirelessly creative Falkirk soul Adam Stafford returns to Limbo after a lengthy hiatus from the club (last seen fronting Limbo favourites Y’all Is Fantasy Island some four and a half years ago), promoting his excellent solo album, Imaginary Walls Collapse (Song, by Toad).
This sees him harness the simple, but devastatingly powerful, combination of his gravelly voice (growing richer and more affecting with age), incendiary lyricism and trusty loop pedal for a long-player that sits somewhere between Johnny Cash, Beck and Nirvana, creating an highly distinctive character that’s 100% Adam Stafford. As well as being enough to make you dig out some long-forgotten favourites, it’s a damn fine record that has already seen him being celebrated well beyond Limbo’s four walls. Catch him in the intimacy of our wee venue while you can…
‘Confidently becoming one of Scotland’s most vital live performers’ (The Skinny)
Adam’s supported by Thank You So Nice, who impressed Limbo enormously when their made their debut at the club eighteen months back. Trammelling predominantly Nineties indie and rock references, they are something else live.
‘Clever pop music, big on melodies and bursting with enthusiasm’ (Songs Heard on Fast Trains)
And first on stage on the night will be new Edinburgh supergroup Et Tu Brute???, featuring members of some of the city’s favourite bands of the last fifteen years. We can’t wait to watch these guys blow up the Limbo stage in their characteristically unique fashion. Prepare for something special.
‘Avant-garage hardcore supergroup peddling intense and wilfully no-fi sound’ (The List)
After the bands have played, the Black Spring DJs will be joining the dots on the decks as usual.
