6th Birthday Party: William Douglas & The Wheel, Jaquimo, Elyssa Vulpes, Black Spring DJs

Time: 20:00 --> Location: The Voodoo Rooms

the wheel live

Limbo celebrates its sixth anniversary this November, welcoming one of the capital’s favourite song-writers, William Douglas with his seasoned band, The Wheel, plus support from new Edinburgh acts Jaquimo and Elyssa Vulpes (performing with her own band).

Astonishingly, it’s the first time Douglas has played for Limbo, though he’s played at The Voodoo Rooms many times, as have his band – something of a Who’s Who of the Scottish live music scene, no less.

“This is the kind of music that makes you want to slam back a few bottles of beer, hug your friends – and enemies too – and then sing all the way home. FOUR STARS” (The List)

“Edinburgh’s finest song-writer” (Red Dog Music)

JAQUIMO are a new Edinburgh outfit, who play a funky stew of rock, pop and jazz built on a bedrock of soul. Dancing is the only goal for this group, and they pull together every groove, hook and harmony from all over the world into a whirligig celebration of being alive.

“Bloody marvellous!” (Jools Holland’s sound engineer)

And first on stage is ELYSSA VULPES, another new act. Through mists of old Gaelic ballads to 70s Italian alternative folk and back again, inside waves of electronic experimentation and bluesy, jazzy contaminations, solace is found in stories and atmospheres that recall PJ Harvey, Cat Power, and Eddie Brickell.

The BLACK SPRING DJs will be joining the dots between the bands and keeping the party going afterwards, as usual.

Tickets: here. N.B. £4 (early bird tickets available until Sat 2nd Nov) / £6 (advance) / £8 on the door!
