With their second album ‘Not Real’ tipped as Album of the Day by 6Music last month, a live session recorded recently for Lauren Laverne’s show and critics lining up to praise its combination of artful eccentricity and poppy hooks (see below), we’re hugely looking forward to hosting Liverpudlian trio Stealing Sheep on our Bongo Club stage, with support from ULTRAS (Gav from Over The Wall‘s new band) and Blank Canvas, as part of the massive Hidden Door Festival (22nd – 30th May).
Not Real Reviews
‘Here technology is merely a vessel for a sound that remains pastoral and beguiling. Truly, a class act. 8/10’ (Mojo)
‘An album that’s more mature and focussed than Stealing Sheep’s debut, harnessing all of their interesting quirks within a showcase of excellent songwriting. 8/10′ (Music OMH)
”Stealing Sheep’s intoxicating otherworldliness ultimately wins out. 8/10’ (All Music Guide)
‘They pull off shifts in mood and tone with routine aplomb. 7/10’ (Uncut)
‘Stealing Sheep could have easily made another weird art album, and it would have been great; instead, it made a weird pop album, and it’s a bold step into a bigger world. 7/10’ (Magnet)
And local stars Woodenbox and Pumajaw headline the Long Room and Cage Room stages (respectively) at the festival’s Secret Courtyard location in King’s Stables Road, with support from fellow Limbo favourites King Eider and Lo Bird (Long Room) plus Hailey Beavis (Cage Room). It should be a very special night!
