SATURDAY 18th JUNE sees LIMBO stage a unique event in honour of world-renown film director JIM JARMUSCH as part of the EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL’s SOUNDTRACKS celebrations at EIFF’s dedicated club space, FESTIVALHOUSE AT TEVIOT – UNDERGROUND.
Jarmusch is a curator for EIFF this year and requested as part of his curation that EIFF honour the year 1982. Jarmusch’s old no wave band, The Del-Byzanteens, released an LP and Jarmusch also put out his legendary short film, Stranger Than Paradise, that year. His partner, Sara Driver, also brought out a film at the time, called You Are Not I (which also features in this year’s EIFF programme)…
Limbo’s BLACK SPRING DJs will be taking everyone back to 1982 with a unique DJ set on the night – expect to hear no shortage of classic New Romantic, post-punk and synth-pop tunes from the era – and guest live act BEN BUTLER AND MOUSEPAD will bring his own, contemporary take on the electro-funk sound that first blew up then. As if that wasn’t enough, everyone is also invited to dress up, 1982-style, like we’re all going to Steve Strange’s Blitz club! Eat your heart out, Boy George…
