Delta Mainline

Fast-rising Edinburgh stars DELTA MAINLINE follow their massive EP launch at The Bongo Club (November) with support from The Machine Room and Pet.

We’ve been trying to nail down a date with up-and-coming Edinburgh stars Delta Mainline for some time now, but for one reason or another it’s taken an aeon to make it happen, having first been contacted by the band about two years ago. In the mean time, we’ve witnessed them rise from enthusiastic newcomers on the local scene to established players able to pack out their own gigs via word-of-mouth alone.

Support comes from 2010 newcomers (and already Limbo favourites) The Machine Room, while our old pal Pete Boggon (of former Limbo stars Action Group) brings his brand new band, Pet, to the Limbo stage for their club debut, having assembled some of his favourite musicians to get this new outfit together just a few months ago. We’re already loving the demos and, with such a devastating musical heritage collected between them all, we’re expecting big things to boot.

It’s another killer Limbo line-up and guarantees another night of consistently great live music all round, we’re sure you’ll agree!

Tickets £7.00 on the door but £5.00 in advance right here:

Delta Mainline

Mesmerising live shows throughout the U.K would see Delta Mainline receive excellent reviews and become one of the most talked about in the psychedelic/experimental scene. This has led to BBC Radio One airplay and invitations for the band to open for Wilco, Glasvegas, Detroit Social Club, Exit Calm and Athlete; as well as festival appearances around Britain. This distinctive sound has caught the attention of DJ Gill Mills as the band were recently selected to feature on Mills’ Best of MySpace show, which recognises the best talent from around the planet on Myspace.com. In 2009 the band were happy to confirm their track ‘Hope/Grace’ would feature on the psychedelic compilation CD ‘Strung Out Vol. One’ through The Third Wave Collective; showcasing “the cream of the guitar-based psychedelia-influenced crop” (Drowned in Sound). Other artists included The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dead Meadow and Spectrum. The band released their new E.P ‘In a World Full of Madness, the Simple Joy of Melody Can Pull You Through’, on Saturday 6th November 2010 in front of a 300-strong crowd at The Bongo Club, Edinburgh. Delta Mainline are currently recording their 2011 debut album.

‘One of the best live bands I’ve seen this year…’ Jim Gellatly, The Sun / Clyde 1
‘A spacey sonic exploration that recalls The Doors or Early Verve’ Edinburgh Evening News
‘Psychedelic rockers rise above their peers, quality songs that live up to the hype’ The Scotsman
‘Epic rockscapes that have mainlined on Morricone soundtracks, Spacemen 3 singles and Sparklehorse LPs. A bliss-inducing band if ever you heard one. Bring them into your world and onto your stereo’ Phil Istine, Shindig! Magazine

The Machine Room

As their myspace states, ‘it sounds like oranges and lemons.’ Edinburgh based ‘The Machine Room’ slice some, squeeze some, lick some and let some of the citrusy melodies stew.

It happens that too much lemon forces a grimace on the vocalist’s face and turns his voice into mellifluous mash of bass and tenor. Genteelly rendered guitar and bass chords are sweetened with a tad of pre Brit pop and bubbly, electronic, Icelandic-like keys. There is a hint of The House of Love, plus a soupcon of My Bloody Valentine, tastefully mixed with a dash of Múm to tender.
Though sounds in general are swathed in euphoric and lush atmospherics, lyrics pack a brutal, bitter love punch. So, ladies and gentlemen, please keep your dancing shoes on and welcome to the Machine Room…

…where everything is ‘so cruel when you’re not feeling romantic.

Pet

Since the dissolve of Action Group last year, immediate plans for a new band were put in place. Members from Action Group, The Magnificents, Zed Penguin and Thumbsucker formed the band PET in 2010.

Without concern for constant up-tempo immediacy, PET prefer to create harmonic atmosphere with guitars, organs, vocal delay and metronomic beats. The 5 piece are six months old with purposeful lack of web presence. Their debut EP launch in March will coincide with their Bandcamp site launch. Until then, PET perform live under the scrutiny of spotlight.
