The Son(s)’ songwriter Karl recently got a new band together to showcase his work, which blends folk and psychedelia in a truly ingenious manner, winning him 9k fans the world over via his Soundcloud. Last album ‘The Things I Love Are Not At Home’ (Olive Grove Records) made it into the Sunday Herald’s 2014 Top 50, no less (among other great plaudits), and is utterly essential listening. (Also, an older song, called Slow & Easy, was remixed by Leonidas & Hobbes and came out via the Hobbes Music label in summer ‘14 – you can download the original version for free via The Son(s)’ Bandcamp). ‘Grammatical funk, cross-dressing blues and skewed-folk despotism,’ he calls it.
