The Lotus Project
We were impressed immediately when we heard The Lotus Project’s demo and, with an impassioned voice that’s reminiscent of Beth Gibbons’ (Portishead) anguished style, singer Marie Claire’s solo performance at Limbo in June 2011 (supporting Isa And The Filthy Tongues) certainly didn’t disappoint, either. High hopes for this duo in 2012…
Band’s biog:
The Lotus Project (TLP) is vocalist/guitarist and award winning songwriter Marie Claire Lee and, specialising in Indonesian drumming, percussionist Signy Jakobsdottir. Describing themselves as a mixture of new age Dream Pop and ambient Dark Wave, the project creates dynamic, tonal music. Heavily laden with atmosphere, a sensual quality with a dark edge created with strong drums giving way to a vulnerable haunting vocal.
The Lotus Project have been together for 3 years and have supported the likes of HAFTOR MEDBØE GROUP, with his beautiful contemporary Jazz, to massive world hip hop OJOS DE BRUJO, established acoustic artist JON ALLEN to the outstanding rising star rockers MR KIL.
You can find TLP playing pubs and venues around the UK ,you can also find them working with contemporary dancers, creating gigs around Art Installations and have recently written the score for an adaptation of Martin McDonaghs’ The Pillowman in Glasgow. The band are currently gigging in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London and are recording new material.
