Edinburgh’s Plastic Animals make atmospheric, guitar-driven, harmonious noise. They formed in 2006, drawing inspiration from bands ranging from The Velvet Underground to Deerhunter. After spending several years in the wilderness they re-emerged with an expanded line-up and a fuller, more ambient sound, culminating in the 2012 release of the well-received Automaton EP.
Praise for “Automaton”:
“a good showcase for a band who have taken influences from the creme-de-la-creme of alt-rock, and refashioned it through their own particular lens” (The Metaphorical Boat)
“the sprawling climaxes of Sundowning and opening track Yellowcraig make it a must-listen” (Peenko)
“a huge progression in songwriting” (Tidal Wave of Indifference)
