Hailing from eclectic musical corners of the U.K, creating epic sounds with soaring guitar riffs and punching rhythm, complimented with lovelorn, poetic diatribe of Yorkshire born Rob Armstrong, For Abel strive to make a connection with audiences through their words, music and intense live performances.
Originally called Nacional, they chose to change their name due to the similarity of name with The National. Although in some ways this means a new start, the band want to stamp their individuality on whatever they are achieving.
For Abel have a list of achievements and auspicious gigs as long as your arm, including 2 successful U.K tours, showcases at SxSW in Texas and In The City in Manchester, support slots for The Phantom Band, Pivot, Twisted Wheel, We Were Promised Jet Packs & Detroit Social Club, slots at Glastonbury, GoNorth and Rockness as well as features/plays on/in Channel M, MTV2 and Popmorphic, Radio 1, NME Radio, 6 Music and XFM, Rolling Stone Italy, The Skinny Mag & ArtRocker.
For Abel release debut album ‘Greater Inventions’ (Concrete) in April 2011 as well as the debut single from the album ‘I Want To See You Sway’ in March 2011.
